Unit Tests: Exams are given approximately every 2-3 weeks, once a new unit is completed. Quizzes precede exams. All exams will be kept in the student’s portfolio in the classroom after students are given an opportunity to review them. Copies will be made upon request.
Classwork: Classroom engagement is necessary for students to learn to their full potential. Daily notes complete with the Teaching Point, questions (copied and answered) and necessary problem-solving steps must be written in a notebook that is dedicated to math.
Projects: A minimum of one project per marking period is assigned to provide enrichment of the current topic. Some projects will be completed in class while others are the students responsibility to complete at home. For those projects completed at home, at least 2 weeks notice is given to students along with a detailed explanation of the requirements, a rubric and the due date. Lateness will reduce the project grade. Homework: Homework assignments reflect the lesson of that day and are crucial to the mastery of mathematics topics. A 4-point system will be used to grade homework: 4 points (full credit) – assignment is complete and correct 3 points – assignment complete but with errors 2 points – assignment incomplete but correct 1 point – assignment incomplete and incorrect 0 points – assignment not submitted
